Somatic Therapies
Somatic Experiencing & EMDR
Nervous system regulation
The goal of treatment is not just to bring the body and nervous system into regulation, but to experience balance while honoring the history and wisdom of nervous system activation.
As an intermediate Somatic Experiencing student, we explore somatic skills including grounding, titration, pendulation and discharge to bring the nervous system into greater balance.
Body-mind integration
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is defined by its use of bilateral stimulation to support body and mind regulation while exploring challenging memories and experiences.
As recommended through EMDRIA approved programs, we use EMDR skills to first support stabilization then explore integration of emotional, physical and cognitive experiences.
“I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening.”
-Dr. Peter A. Levine
Creative Arts Therapies
Individualized experiential interventions
As a board-certified art therapist for the last 10+ years, it has been my pleasure and privilege to have worked with a wide variety of people using creative arts therapies. These include but are not limited to all age groups within the following communities:
Individuals in acute and partial hospital settings
Refugee community support organizations
Domestic violence shelters and programs
Adjudicated/incarcerated individuals
Individuals of varying abilities and/or neurodivergence
Those in hospice programs
In treatment, it’s very important to consider the individuals needs and capacities when developing appropriate art therapy interventions. It is my goal as a therapist to support you with materials and prompts that help stabilize, nourish, challenge and/or illuminate the path you want to be on.
